Dear all 😊
Happy Mid Week!
As a new startup centre catered specially for children with special needs, we understand that as parents you would want to know more about us.
Our programmes are child-centred which bridge connections between the child, their teachers as well as their peers. We value and acknowledge that children need to develop holistically in order for them to gain independence as such play, active learning, child choice, highly motivating materials, and positive behavioural supports are keys to facilitating children’s growth in developmental areas.
Our intervention approach is a combination of Activity Based Intervention (ABI) and Structured Teaching (TEACCH) to assist young children with special needs or are at risk of developmental delay.
Environment plays an important role in children's learning. Children should understand where they should be, what is expected of them, and how to do it, all as independently as possible. Hence, our classrooms are set up based on the TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related handicapped Children) method whereby each child will be following a daily schedule which includes many purposeful activities based on the IEP goals and structured environment designed to foster creativity, imagination, problem-solving, communication, meta-cognition, and the expansion of core understandings and skills.
We use PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) in our daily routines and schedule. As we do not practise general teaching, one child’s daily schedule may appear to be different from another child’s schedule on the board. These daily routines and activities promote self-regulation, curiosity, problem solving, and language development.
Individualised Education Plan (IEP) for each child involving intervention within an activity-based environment will be developed. Each child’s outline goals and objectives are developed by the teachers, therapists in collaboration with parents to address skill deficits and build school readiness. Planned interventions are done to increase the child’s emerging skills, and regular evaluations are done by our team throughout the intervention period.
The IEP guides the delivery of our special education programmes that are individualised and developed for children based on their existing skill levels and current needs. Towards the end of the year, the team will meet all parents to discuss on the progress of the child for the entire year and recommendation for next year's learning.
Therapy services are incorporated in the daily programme.
Our ratio is 1 teacher : 1-3 children, depending on the functioning level of the group. We ensure that each child is taught according to the best way he/she learns; therefore we will always maintain a low teacher-child ratio. Children’s development will be observed and monitored regularly so that we continue to build upon acquired knowledge and broadening the repertoire of skills.
We are open from 8 am to 5.30 pm on weekdays.
There will be no lessons conducted on weekends, public holidays and MOE Scheduled School Holidays.
Our Intensive Programme is 1h 45min per session and you may opt to have interventions between 2 / 3 / 5-days per week.
However, we would encourage children to have intervention on a daily basis to achieve a consistency for learning and better integration to mainstream.
We are also introducing our Half-day Programme (3h 30mins) to parents whom may have other commitments in the morning.(For more info, please refer to https://www.captainpandaeic.com/programme.)
As of today, we are pleased and thrilled to present to you our Opening Special! (Please refer to image)
Visitation is available from next week (12 June) onwards!
Kindly let us know if you will like to schedule a visit.
Should you require any further clarifications, please feel free to let us know. Similarly, we are open to feedbacks from you too! :)
